Airframe Ultra Demo Guide

Airframe Ultra is still listed as coming soon. Steam lists it for Windows, English only, app 2522120, from Videocult and Akupara Games. Steam also lists a free demo. That demo is the thing you can download today, and it is not a stable snapshot of the finished product. This page exists so you do not confuse a tutorial cage, a Next Fest open beta, and the full Ultra Circuit you will eventually pay for.

Always read the latest Steam news before you assume Ocean Drive is still in the package. Builds shrink. Builds grow. The store page can keep the same “demo” button while the contents change underneath.

What the Steam demo is

There is a demo app attached to the Airframe Ultra store page. You do not need a closed-beta key. Wishlist the full game if you want launch mail, then install the demo to feel throttle, coolant, dismount, and a brawl. Steam lists online PvP, online co-op, and split-screen for the product; whether a given demo build exposes every mode is a news-post question.

Hardware bar is low: Windows 10, 6 GB RAM, a GTX 650-class GPU, DirectX 11. Plug in a gamepad anyway. The controls page explains why analog throttle matters more than your GPU.

The tutorial-only era

Earlier in development, the public demo was a character creator and a tutorial loop: split-screen, one circuit, punching bag, a small arena, a looping race path. Riv otter confirmed that limited scope in the January 2025 demo notes. Videocult wanted hands on airframes and on-foot weight, not a fake six-track campaign. If your current install still looks like that gym, you are not missing a hidden menu. Finish the loop on Bluntnose with a Standard body and the Rider Suit, as How to Play describes, then wait for news.

Steam Next Fest and the February 2026 open beta

From February 23 to March 2 2026 (ending 9am PST on the 2nd), Akupara ran an open beta during Steam Next Fest. The instruction was blunt: download the Airframe Ultra demo and play. No signup form. Rebindable keys were in. You spawned in Warehouse instead of a UI lobby, then walked into a highlighted zone to pick between two random tracks.

Track list for that window was every previous beta course: Ocean Drive, Chasm, Night Ride, Storm Drain, Quarry, Estate, plus Warehouse — the atlas on the tracks guide. Closed betas had been smaller slices. The open beta was the reunion. Circuits were three races with points carrying over, KOs plus legs. Steam still lists online PvP, online co-op, and split-screen. If a lobby UI hid local play, that was a test FAQ, not proof split-screen was gone.

What can shrink, and what never was the full game

After a Next Fest or open-beta window, the live demo can snap back to tutorial-only. That is a test harness going back in the drawer, not a stealth delist of a full game that has not shipped. If you boot the demo in a quiet month and only see the punching bag, check Steam news and the updates hub before you write that the game “only has one map.”

Unreleased tracks shown in art — Docks, Hanging Gardens, Sunset City — were not part of that open-beta list. Unreleased mascots (Bandit 99, The Nuclear Them, Jackrabbit, Marcus 0743) are the same category. Use the demo as a mechanical exam: feather throttle, coolant only, dismount for arenas, vote with your feet. Those skills transfer. Weapon numbers may not. Read combat and boosting as habits, then re-test in whatever build you actually installed.

A practical demo session

Twenty minutes: tutorial, Bluntnose, Standard, no dry-boost. If the current download still has tracks, run one circuit and practice a Warehouse vote. Split-screen if someone is on the couch; online if not. Then stop. Grinding a demo gym for two hours teaches you to overfit a punching bag.

Until Steam’s coming-soon flag moves, treat every download as a preview with a variable map pack. Wishlist, play the listed demo, and keep tracks and updates next to the store page.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers for racers still learning Megacity West.

Is the Airframe Ultra demo the full game?

No. The full game is still listed as coming soon. The demo is a separate download whose contents change. Confirm Steam news before you expect a six-track circuit.

I only see a tutorial. Did I install the wrong thing?

Probably not. Riv otter's earlier demo notes described a tutorial-and-creator package. After open-beta windows, the live demo can shrink back to that loop.

What did the February 2026 open beta include?

It ran February 23–March 2 2026 via the demo download, with Warehouse voting, rebindable keys, and all previous beta tracks: Ocean Drive, Chasm, Night Ride, Storm Drain, Quarry, and Estate.

Can I play online and split-screen in the demo?

Steam lists online PvP, online co-op, and split-screen for the game. Individual demo builds may hide a mode in the UI. Check the current news post, not a month-old comment.

Will Docks or Sunset City be in the demo?

They were unreleased in the tests this wiki covers. Stick to the six beta race maps plus Warehouse, and watch updates if that changes.

What should I practice if the demo is tutorial-only right now?

Throttle, brake-pitch, coolant boosts, dismount, punch/kick, and Bluntnose habits from How to Play. Those transfer into whatever map pack comes back.
